Natural history sub-collection<\/h2>\n

The natural history sub-collection focuses mainly on botany. The herbarium of embryophytes (land plants) was started by Dr. V\u00e1clav Sk\u0159iv\u00e1nek, continued by head teacher Veleslav Lang, and followed by RNDr. Vlastimil Tlust\u00e1k and RNDr. Jind\u0159ich Hanousek. Another important part of the museum are the paleontological collections, especially from the Culm area. They were put together by Veleslav Lang. The collections also include finds from the Tertiary period, represented mainly by fossils from the coast of the former sea. In the past, zoological specimens were often obtained from school cabinets as they were being discarded. Some dermoplastic specimens were also acquired from estates while others were for exhibition purposes. The mineral collection is also interesting.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Areas: the Vy\u0161kov Region, the Vy\u0161kov Gate, Drahansk\u00e1 vrchovina Highlands, Liten\u010dick\u00e1 pahorkatina Hills, the \u017dd\u00e1nice Forest and all territories that connect these geographical units or belong to their surroundings. As comparative material, the sub-collection contains items (mainly herbarium ones) from other territories, most of them from the Czech Republic.<\/p>\n
